For rmsmith, being a professional artist is about experience, imagination, and creation. She transforms blank canvases into explosions of colour where realism, surrealism, and abstraction merge experience with experiencing. Whether rmsmith translates differing states of the human condition, the world’s diverse topography, or her emotive interactions and reactions to experience, she alters the play of light, shade, movement, texture, and colour to engage the intellect, senses, and emotions to develop and create innovative consciousness.  She feels colours, tastes scents; hears flavours; smells movements, and sees sounds as rmsmith transposes sensory awareness and then juxtaposes and translates new imagery which captures and defies.   

She has travelled across the world by land, sea, and air with an acute awareness of her surroundings. Her wanderlust spirit has given rmsmith numerous experiences in which to draw from. Her intrepid spirit and joie de vie give her compassion and depth. You can find her footsteps at the top of Kilimanjaro, her shadow in wrecks of Truk Lagoon, her high-spirited laughter in the walls of Flordita, her mortality in the hot, dry desert sands of Namib, her tears with thousands of dead fish and miles of floating garbage on the ocean, her voice in the trade winds, her dreams in fluid motion of world’s oceans, her passion in everything she does and creates, and her works of art in national and international private collections and on body canvases around the world.
