Thought’s foreplay

Abstract painting is the freedom to express without constructs – to express intangible threads and give them form, thus, establishing their existence – creation does not make them discernible, comprehensible, or reputable.

Abstraction is thought’s foreplay. Its foreplay is essential to its result.  To not give awareness and expression to its foreplay is to have no knowledge of the passionate waters from which it was drawn.

As rmsmith has matured and gained confidence, she has moved through realism, surrealism, and abstraction with poise.  Her abstract art works, filled with vivid intensity animate and spawn ideas. She sometimes harmonizes her abstract works by mixing media.  From her abstract works, many more realistic paintings spawn.  When she uses this technique, each painting in the group retains a thread from the original abstract painting.
