A Smattering of Different Thank You's.
I have hundreds of cards and letters of thanks in my collection. These are just a few with some added information just to make the thank you more understandable if Galt House Academy was not part of your journey. I have posted these particular thanks because of how I arrived at getting them. Anything written in red is my hindsight response!
From Marnie, Meaghan’s mom after really badly breaking her arm on a Quebec City school trip:
“It was so great of you to call us all the time updating us on Meaghan’s condition and how her surgery was coming along. We can’t ever thank you enough for looking after Meaghan, you did a fantastic job!”
No worries, looking after Megs was the easy part, looking at her bone sticking out of her arm the hardest, having a gorgeous French surgeon absolutely priceless!
From Timothy on Stephen’s graduation day:
“I hope you know that what you have done for Stephen has been truly amazing and he has you to thank for everything.”
Nope, Dr. Tim, he has you and Valerie to thank. You gave him the greatest gift anyone can be given – LIFE! But if there was ever anyone who deserved to earn the world - it is Stephen. His tenacity has moved mountains and I believe he will move many in his life time!
From Ken after Jeremy unknowingly broke his finger on a school ski trip.
“Jeremy won’t be at school today. We were up late last night taking Jeremy to emergency. He broke his finger yesterday on the ski trip. He had a great time. Thanks for taking him. He is enjoying school for the first time in a long time. It is great not to have worry about him sneaking home. He thinks you are the best teacher ever”
Hmmm how did I manage to miss a broken bone. I have posted in the slideshow when, where, and how Jeremy broke his finger. If you do not know Jeremy, he is the boy flying high up in the air on his skis. I was being a photographer and we were skiing in the terrain park enjoying an impromptu ski jump competition. JEREMY WON!!! We did send him to first aid about his finger but they thought it was fine, it had swelled a bit, but Jeremy was never one to complain – Life lesson - don’t just listen to the squeaky wheels!!!
From Carol after having her son with a group of other boys lost in a huge provincial forest on a five day yearend outdoor education trip.
I know it wasn’t easy on you to have children lost on a dark and rainy night. I am not surprised that my youngest was involved in sneaking off, but I was amazed with how organized you were and ever thankful for how compassionate you were when you found them all and brought them back to camp safe and sound. I thought you handled the whole incident with sensitivity and courage. Thanks for being such an exemplary role model for everyone.
Kids lost in the Canadian wilderness – wow, I never imagined that would ever happen. I handled it, Miss Carol, the way I felt; elated and completely relieved that we had ALL of them, with the help of everyone, back at camp safe and sound.
From Randy after a number of life changes and worried about his son Chris.
“I really enjoyed going on the school trip. It was great to see how happy everyone was, including Chris. I am so glad that Chris has Galt House and you in his life. Can I enroll? I could use a lot more time laughing these days. Thanks Ruth for everything you do and give. You certainly make a huge difference in a lot of lives.”
Randy went on almost every school trip, and if he could not, would arrange for us to take one of the larger vehicles from his dealership. I never saw Randy frown. He was always one to pass on smiles and positive energy.
